I'm positive the machine that costs tens of thousands will print a better picture than your $500 consumer model.

we had meh results with our latest epson. our old 700 served us well though

The better question is, is the convenience of doing it yourself worth the upfront cost of a $500 machine + ink + paper? That buys you a lot of prints at Walgreens.
