two lovebirds bought a house. (Going to throw all my do it yourself/garden pictures in one for the sake of ease.)
The lady lovebird thought the house was beautiful, but there was no denying that it needed(needs) some serious TLC.
First thing was first, that horrible overhang had to go- and so it was knocked down. Not to mention paint not being around half the windows...that too had to be fixed. (Note the LOVELY chain link fence)
So the male bird decided the only thing to do would be to tear it down and build a new fence. When that was finished, it looked more like this.
For the sake of the story- it's unfortunate the house hadn't been repainted by this point.
ANYWAYS,
Mr. bird got very bored at home one day and decided to do some demo on walls that were non-supportive and strictly limiting space.
It took the birds 3 months before they even bought a mirror.
Similarly, the fixtures were rotting ...
so they fixed that too
and Mr. bird was furious when he saw the coat closet...
he demo'd that too.
and that.
then the birds both found tons and tons of concrete and brick buried under the ground. They jack hammered and dug and used axe pics until it was all done and over with.
Some they used and some they didn't.
You see Mr. bird did lots of online reading which resulting in him finding something called huegelculture(can't spell ) Anyways, this was a gardening in which wood was buried under the ground in planter beds- to enrich the soil. He was sold.
and so we began...
then one day he decided we should move mr. Huey outside. We build a rabbit hutch out of wood we had lying around, some aluminum roofing we found, and that same chain link our fence had been made of.
before he lived here
He has been outside for about two weeks now and loves it. The rain hasn't bothered him much and the aluminum roof has kept him dry..
he's a pretty cool addition to the family, thought Granite is involved himself in some serious training routines to hunt Huey down.
Don't worry Huey, lady bird will protect you.
and that cat is just one big softy...I promise.
Anyways, this season...besides growing some oat hay...I wasn't successful with anything else. Living on a creek though, I have lots of berry bushes, rose bushes, apple trees(trying to grow some more) and a lot of other non-interesting vegetation. Sadly, many of my berry bushes were in line with that ugly chain fence and most didn't survive the transplants into other areas of the yard.
Here are some pretty trees for you. (Notice the house being re-painted)
Now forgive me as I leave to take an axe to these bad boys..
One down...3 1/2 to go. (Lots more work to do on both the interior and exterior...this is just the beginning clearly. )
