Do any of you actually have a farm/garden?
How much effort/work is involved in growing your own food?

My papa has always had decently sized gardens. I was "tricked" into helping out as a child, and was dragged into it as I got older. It can be a lot of work, but sometimes when the dirt is damp from the watering you did the day before, it feels ah-maze-ing in the hot weather. It can be hard work, and you're definitely going to sweat and work your ass off, but if you drink lots of water and have some idea of what your doing, you'll have some success.

If you like to eat what you're growing, yes. Very rewarding! And there's lots of books and mags out there to feed you information.

You can simply wash off your food as far as I know. There's nothing 100%, but I'll ask him tomorrow about pesticides and fertilizers he's used.

Well of course! And I'm not exactly sure what more is done other than throwing the food away or cutting around it (depends on what you're growing). I can ask about that as well. Build up the questions, guys! I can ask him all day - he has plenty of years of experience.

Haha, I can ask that, too. When he pulls tomatoes, they're usually big enough around to use in sandwiches at work. (And sometimes only use one slice for full sized sammiches!)
