Spend $388 to replace a HID bulb on my '08 Audi A6...wtf!?
Car has 54k miles on it and the passenger side bulb just started to get a pink-ish hue to it. Called the dealer and guy just says that it's $388 like it happens all day long. Bulb is $125 or so and the labor for the rest since it's apparently a total PITA to replace it.
Not covered under my CPO since Audi only extended the warranty of HID bulbs until 50k miles (I'm 4k over).

my car is a lincoln mark VIII lsc, first american car to use HIDs.
it's the only, ONLY hid system to use DC current, special ballast, special bulb.
ALL others use AC.
bulbs have been out of production since 2003.

$20 and 30 seconds to change out a bulb in most cars. You're fine.

I dont understand how you are paying ~250 in labor for a bulb though, the max they should charge is an hour labor

Easy to do on most cars...unfortunately the way the hood lines up, its a total cluster **** on this car...

If you b**ch to Audi enough about it, you can probably get it covered even though it's 4,000 miles over. Unless of course, you decided to never return back to a dealer for service and do it yourself or go to a garage to save $20 an oil change.
