I need a mirror roughly 20x36 - i can buy a 24x36 at home depot for cheap, but I'd need to trim 4" off of it. I have straight edges and I know I need a scoring blade, but what's the likelihood it'll work correctly? I can deal with a *slightly* imperfect edge (+/- 0.5") since i'm framing the mirror, but I'm wondering if I'd just end up ****ing a bunch of them up before I'd get the hang of it.

Just score the cut, and tap where you scored and it usually cuts it clean

Lay it on a firm surface, make the score.
Pick it up, lay it down on a towel, then tap along the scored line with the other end of the diamond cutter. And it will break on that line

IMO, watch them do it for you, or PRACTICE first.
