Weird. I've never even seen that myself. I guess it's nice to know our data is safe.

So they're making a backup like every day?

They make backups pretty often... I'm pretty sure how often they make backups depends on the size of the forum. I have gotten this message a couple times. This forum is very large, so we can expect them to make backups more often. You could say that it creates more downtime for the forum, but it only lasts literally seconds and it's better safe than sorry.

You could say that it creates more downtime for the forum, but it only lasts literally seconds and it's better safe than sorry. Hot backups create zero downtime. An environment such as this shouldn't need anything but hot backups and maybe a cold backup every few months (only if needed integral functionality is introduced). At least, I can't think of any reason to cold backup the forum... correct me if there is. -darc
