The shooter is one of my favorites, and, being an old school (of course!) gamer, one of the earliest genres of the bottom of the screen shooter (or Space Invaders-type games) is still one of my favorites. I currently only have about 14 games of this type spanning over several consoles, and I still want more! One of the very few arcade games I'd like to eventually own is a Space Invaders rip-off too.
Puzzle games are good as well.

I mostly only play RPG's, platformers, and time management games (<-- on my computer.) And I love the sims games, too, though. XD

I love mystery games where there's always some weird story to solve.

Do they old 16 bit games count as their own genre?

Not really. I'd say that's an era, not a genre. All eras have gaming genres in them.

I love mystery games where there's always some weird story to solve. Do you own an Xbox 360? Have you played L.A. Noir? It's AMAZING. You'd love it, I think. I didn't get to finish it unfortunately. =(
