Went out for a friend's bachelor party, running late because I had to work. I joined them on the 6th hole. We were playing a scramble, so it doesn't really count and all but...
Nothing remarkable on the front nine... but the back nine, it all started to come back.
Mystic Creek #7... 285 yard par 4 over the water. Everybody else was safe, but short, so I let it rip... drove it 5' over the back of the green. We played my drive, I went last and chipped in for an eagle!
#8... 335 yard (green tees were where the blues are on the pic below) par 4 over the water. Same situation... same result. DROVE THE BACK OF THE GREEN. We chipped up, made the putt... birdie
#9... 492 yard par 5. Everybody else was safe, but short, so I let it rip again... and duckhooked it into the water. DOH. So we were 275 yards out, in the rough. I pulled out the driver and corked it 40 yards over the green. Holy ****. Easily hit it 315 yard out of the rough...
I'm hooked again. Going again this weekend.
Side note: Other than my chip in, I was useless around the green. I didn't make a single putt, my sand game was atrocious, chipping was medium. But I literally had not swung a club in 2 years prior to this outing....

The funny thing is, when I was playing all the time and carrying a single digit handicap, it was the opposite. I was always the short guy off the tee... maybe 260 yard average, but my short game was solid. If I can put the two together, I might start having fun again.
PS. I'm SORE from it. My sides HURT.

It wasn't a *real* eagle. It was a scramble. But it was my drive and my chip. Of course, I get the benefit of going last, so I can let the drive rip without fear... and then I got to read off of the other guys on the chip.

I've had periods where I was swinging well and hitting it 280 regularly, but 300+? Never.
