Looking to spend ~2 weeks in the Cape Breton Island and Newfoundland areas in mid to late August...
Looking for some insider tips... which areas to visit, places to see, things to do, sh*t like that...

I guess there are no major airports in NF? I was thinking of landing in Halifax, meandering through Cape Breton Island, jumping the ferry, hitting some cool spots in NF, then flying out of wherever I end up...
How do most people deal with the logistics of getting in and out of these places?

Tips:
Don't listen to Nuclear. Bring fly dope for the hiking trails. Spring and early summer has been damp, so the mosquitoes and black flies are plentiful. Bring bear spray if you hike, and don't pet the coyotes and Moose. Don't expect miracles in Meat Cove. Sure, the area is pretty, but the people are so isolated they make southern rednecks look like brain surgeons. We got trailed by a pickup full of locals all the way into Meat Cove from around where the burnt truck was on the road. They're all inbred antisocial ****s up there, and I wouldn't recommend the place, personally. Baddeck has a lot to offer to tourists, but don't stare at the people. They all have this 'eyes too far apart' thing going on and they're sensitive about it. The Sydney Tar Ponds are now covered, so that's something you don't have to look for any more. Us Cape Bretoners love our beer, and love drinking in general. Cheticamp is beautiful, and there's dozens of tours for whale watching in the area. (Not many good looking women there, though, and they speak mainly French) Beaches -- there are hundreds. West Mabou, Inverness (PROTIP: don't get laid in inverness, you will catch something ) Port Hood, Cheticamp -- and that's just a few on the west side of the island alone. Waterfalls -- almost every hiking trail except the Skyline will take you to a waterfall. North Mountain, Uisge-ban, Franey, Maryann Falls, etc etc
