You don't hotlink to facebook either way.

Save the image to your computer. (Right click, save as, name it and remember where you put it)

Then either go to

www.tinypic.com

or

imageshack.us/

Upload your image.

And use the direct link it gives you.

Use that as the URL for your avatar, set the size, and save
