I don't think anyone who is relevant really cares about proving its existence. It's a paranormal phenomenon, it exists, there's tangible enough evidence, a lot of it is hearsay, but a lot of credible witnesses as well with no reason to fabricate.
It's a personal thing whether you believe in it or not. Interesting to research though.
