Remember when VCR's first became popular in homes? Probably somewhere around the late 70's/early 80s.
I remember that our first video recorder - VHS - was a great big bulky thing that should really have come fitted with wheels to move it into place. It was huge and I couldn't lift it. Granted I was a child, but it was HUGE.
Watching videos and actually being able to record and replay my favorite shows was hardcore.

I challenge any DVD player/recorder to be able to record/pause as easily as a vcr could.
There isnt anything like that available, right?

Mine is still hooked up and still gets used. We recorded a lot of shows/movies off TV many years ago, that will never be on TV or released on DVD.

He means physically vs. digitally doing these functions, like how it's easier to rewind a videotape than scanning a dvd, which tends to go either not fast enough or too fast and jumps and all

I remember when I was little and I accidentally got syrup in the vcr. My Dad wad PO'ed. Didn't know why he'd get that mad until later after I found out how expensive they were at that time. This was about 20 years ago.
