Without your kidney as a transplant, someone close to you will die within the month. The odds that you will survive the operation are only 50%, but if you survive, your normal life expectancy will remain the same. What would you do?

I would risk the operation. I would rather take a chance at death, then have to live with the fact that because of my selfishness, someone close to me has died. Peace of mind is much more valuable than a kidney

I think I would risk it too. I couldnt just let someone else die without trying to help

It depends on who it was. If it was really someone very close to me, then I would do it easily.

A parent or future spouse - yes.
A friend - probably not.

Without a shadow of a doubt, coz I know they'd do the same for me. Plus you take risks for the ones you love.
