Would you ever pay to be a member of a forum? or this forum? What it was cheap like $5 per year.

Yes.
I am trying to become a writer and eventually I am going to join the forum and group "Romance Writers of America." It will let me speak to published authors and people who have experience in the business and also present to me certain opportunities.
I don't know how much it costs yet, but even if it's quite a bit, I'll want to join it anyway because I've heard a lot of authors say that they were members of it and that they found it helpful.

^ some high quality forums with content that you can't get anywhere else.
it would make sense if we had that, but i don't know if you can make money here since this is hosted on a free board site. if darc or i hosted it, we could have either a free forum or a members only area. we would need a lot of security too.

I've seen a lot of those super active general forums charging $20 for Lifetime with LIMITED abilities. or $150 with access to the whole forum

No... wouldn't do that. And for the people who said that paying can get you access to special content, that's why I have accounts on sites in the darker corners of the internet... I get my special content there (for free).
