Just started it tonight. Game seems a lot harder than RE4...maybe that's just because it's been awhile since I played that game. The whole co-op thing, I'm not sure if I like it yet or not. I didn't really like the parts in RE4 where you had to babysit the chick, but your partner in this game obviously fights for herself...she can help you out as often as you have to help her, so it's not quite the same as having to constantly watch out for the girl in RE4.

The zombies were accidents, caused by secondary exposure to the T-Virus. The purpose of the T-Virus was to created biological weapons, not zombies.

At this point, Umbrella is gone, and the biological weapons have fallen into the hands of terrorists and extremist groups.

This is all explained in the history file in this game.

But there's definitely some connection between what's going on now and the events of the past games (which was never made clear in RE4). I wouldn't mind seeing a traditional zombie or two, but I'm fine with the new enemies as well.
