I got my mom a watch, a travel alarm clock, a flashlight, and a toiletries kit for traveling. Oh and one of those international power converters for charging her camera batteries.

Mom: the bath stuff she likes (50+ bucks for some bath salt and moisturizer); a book on photography for sports (she bought an expensive camera to take cool pics of mylittle sister), some fancy jams from the local farmer's market; and some bath things to round it out (loofa, etc)
Step dad: a super fancy bread knife (wtf, i know, but he wanted one), and a cookbook to hold his recipes in
