Heh, what a service. No; Proboards was definitely not like this when I was with them. I have NO idea where the power-trip set in. Maybe when they realized people were actually signing up to their services and using them... they were like "Hey... we've got power." Kind of like a little kid who has just found his dad's handgun. Lets go outside and try it.
The problem is, people like the admins at Proboards can get away with this, too. We arent paying them. Maybe they're mad because of that?

they CAN charge if they want... And 95% of the people will leave...hell, as sh*tty as this service is (I reg'd a board to take a look at it) I wouldn't pay anything for it ...if you're considering it, take your money and buy webspace on a server farm, then run your own version of PHP NUKE or phpBB -- something that doesn't suck. -DarC

they CAN charge if they want... No they cant. With such bad customer service, they'd be getting NO business.

but then since the user would be paying, they can put whatever they want on the board.

No they cant. With such bad customer service, they'd be getting NO business. A friend of mine does. He moved it to another server though, although the original's still up. And since he called it f*ckinf*ck/proboards13/ (no, it's not a porn board, he just likes to use a lot of profanity ), obviously they'll allow stuff like that if you pay for it.
