Dammit...been working on an "80s, entertainment" thread write-up Guess I'll divide it up now, and input the tv shows part of it... Plenty went on with the small screen, with fashion (rolled up sleeves on sports coats) meeting a high amount of violence with Miami Vice. Quirky characters abound The A*Team, which also mixed violence with a cast of misfit bounty hunter types (“fool!”), along with an amalgam ensemble of characters on Hill Street Blues (the growling Belker, yet whom talked to his mom on a daily basis), L. A. Law, mixing high-paid attorneys with their lower tier law clerks, and the comedy Night Court, with a wisecracking, magic act judge born from one (or maybe both) mentally ill parent, a womanizing, non-commitment public defender (“I’ve had every woman in this building!”), and a towering, bald bailiff who could very well have come from Mars. St. Elsewhere also was one of those rare “dramedies”that came out as well. One of the most different of shows brought the attention of the poor blue collar, foul-mouthed (and at times, questionable parenting) white trash family of Roseanne, never before seen in this form and fashion. Married...With Children was also in somewhat of the same vein, which also helped launch the Fox network, along with Cops, one of the earliest of all “reality” tv series, which also had the earliest of the “shaky camera” technique (much to the chagrin of viewers all over the planet). And of course, coming at the tail end of the 80s was probably one of THE biggest surprises of all, The Simpsons, a very rare prime-time cartoon that outlived all kinds of odds, especially driving other animated shows out of existence really quickly as well (Fish Police, Capital Critters). After all, many of them were Just Like Us...except yellow...and if you happened to have a nuclear plant in your town. Just a few there...

Can't believe I forgot Cheers And Star Trek was reborn as The Next Generation, taking place 100 years after Captain Kirk.
