Here's the issue... I just recently got a new reciever (Onkyo TX-SR605) which is my first HDMI receiver. Because of this, I rewired my whole setup. I now have my PS2 (output through component cables) through the AVR (converted to HDMI) then output through the TV. All my PS2 games play and look great. PS1 games (which worked fine on previous setup - composite out direct to TV) all come up with just a solid blue screen. I can hear the sound though.
I really want to play MGS one more time before I get a PS3 and MGS4!
Any ideas?

that's an odd problem.
Definitely a signal processing problem though.

when you go through the ps2 bootup screen and go into the menu, there is a setting for aspect ratio - 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 standard, maybe try setting it 4:3 when you play PS1 games.
