Do they profit off listens on bandcamp if we don't buy? I don't think so. I know the artists get a tally of listens but that might be it. There aren't popup ads for albums or anything unlike with something like YouTube.

Gonna need some song suggestions too!! BECAUSE WOW I just listened to some of Leathers's Ultraviolet album, although a bit of it I had heard already since several songs were released as singles or on her first e. p. of Reckless. "Ultraviolet", "Highrise", "Crash" and "Fascination" (NOT a cover of the Human League classic, this is an original) are all good songs. "Mary" sounds like a dull ballad at first but gets better, and my favorite of them all is "Runaway", which I really like those synths in it and Shannon's (Leathers's) soft voice on it.

A few more *As far as death metal goes–for the metalheads such as PurpleBlast –I was already aware of Funeral Leach, as I am going to get their The Illusion of Time cd. However, I only just realized the other day they have at least one more album out and I just listened to it, being Death Meditation. They're not real original but they remind me of Hypocrisy a little where they're serious death metal but they throw in these whacked-out keyboards at times. On what I assume is their debut album (the latter), it's good and solid but I'm only getting/recommending the singles of "Statues" and "I Am The Cosmos", the latter of which has these really odd, haunting sampled choirs in it (which can be found on another song or two somewhere on the album as well, along with a bizarre speedup to thrash metal for no reason whatsoever near the end). Also from the same label I'm getting the cds of Upon Desolation and Through Wilderness by Mortuous, although I don't really recall what they're like, I think they're faster than F. Leach (FL is mostly slow to mid-paced death metal). They also add violin and piano to some songs and feature members of Necrot and Exhumed for those who are familiar with those bands. They also have another full-length and a split ep with another band (one or two songs from each) but I haven't heard them. *I don't know if fellow punk fans of PunkChic4life22 are familiar with Bunnydrums, but they came out with several albums, E. P.s and had tracks on several compilation albums in the 1980s. Whatever the deal is, they're pretty light as far as punk goes, or at least they were on their PKD with bonus remix album. They added several elements you don't find in punk music too often, such as keyboards, handclaps (?) and wind instruments, along with other unusual stuff (either "Crawl" or "Shiver" has soupy/distorted bass, along with the bizarre electronica/distorted guitar on "Sleeping"). If you want just pure punk, you'll find that on "Little Room", with a vocalist who (mostly) can't sing, the bouncy bassline and simple, but distorted guitar, but then with the next track of "Ugh" you get unusual elements again such as the saxophone. Not something I'll get but for those into light punk and a variety of other stuff it's worth a listen. Also, the German 80s punk band Xmal Deutschland had an interesting e. p. with Schwarze Welt, not only employing keyboards in its closing track but they were probably one of the earlier punk bands to have a female singer. I'll see about adding another one later, just haven't listened to it yet. One of the many tags of what she does is "trance" so it could be interesting.

Got a bunch of artists here, all pretty much underground Several of these, as noted, I've mentioned before but others are ones I haven't brought up ever. Several of these I had listened to months ago and are a bit of a blur so I can't really recommend songs of theirs. Several I have though. * Iona Lane, Hallival–this folk singer has a pretty sweet voice. "Mermaid" is my favorite song from this album but she has others * Nexorum, Tongue of Thorns--death/black metal. Not real original but it does have its moments. For some reason their first album sounds like a totally different band but it didn't do that much for me, even though the production was better * Travis Savoie, Death Curse--I posted about this guy the other month. It's supposedly video game music (it's an alternative soundtrack to a game I'm not familiar with) but that means anything nowadays; he's got some exotic sounds in this stuff. Favorite tracks are "Lifting the Curse", "Surrounded By Snakes" and "Gazing Upon The Forbidden City" * Majesty Crush, Love 15--I also posted about them the other month. They're been called (but aren't really) shoebox but were ahead of their time with their alternative rock sound * Power Trip, Nightmare Logic--metal/hardcore with yelled vocals. Didn't care much for their other album * Grace Cummings, Ramona--she can do the warbling thing but she really isn't that great a singer overall. She *does* make me think of Joe Cocker in his later years with his gravel voice where he threw everything he had into it, which she also does. However, the "folk" tag is nonsense, I only found one song to be folk-like, I think the rest was easy listening/light rock, other albums might differ * Wind in the Withered Willow, Old Valley Tales--good, mystical dungeon synth debut. If anyone's familiar with them, with "The Hasty Wren" piece, that really capture's that bird's essence! * Leathers, Ultraviolet–I posted about her moths ago. A really good darkwave/electronics singer * Anoushka Shankar, Chapter 1, Forever For Now--the most famous sitar player of Ravi Shankar, this is his daughter, doing more exotic stuff. This is a good one to start with since it's just a brief, four song ep, three out of four pieces being good (in my opinion) * NECROTICGOREBEAST, Human Deviance Galore--MONSTROUSLY heavy death metal with THE most powerful mucus/death metal vocalist I've ever heard, this will be THE heaviest cd in my collection once I order it, it's even heavier than the Bolt Thrower and Broken Hope cds I have. Just don't blame me for the horrible song titles (look at them at your own risk!) * Cantus Corvi, Vogue la galere–I also posted about them months ago. It starts off sounding not so good at first since the guy can't sing. But then it gets pretty funny! I hadn’t laughed so much at an album since "Weird" Al Yankovic. Everyone plays several instruments each and I think only one song is serious (the second track where he snorts like a pig; what?!). This is acoustic sea shanties and is a lot of fun, but HOW COME ONLY TWO PEOPLE HAVE BOUGHT THE DAMN THING? Good lord, this should’ve sold hundreds, it’s got the market for it * Sidewalks and Skeletons, Exorcism–another one I posted about a while back. Their singer’s cool in this darkwave/electronics outfit but actually she's not on this album that much, but they had good other singers fill in for her * Kendra Manning, Another Sunburn--a girl and her guitar folk music. "Someone to Sing To" and "Summer Clothes" are my favorites * Foglord, In the Essance of Astral Solitude and Journey of the Spirits–good, mystical dungeon synth Very cool. Would love to learn where you find your music?

Would love to learn where you find your music? The majority of them I'd just see their album covers in someone else's music collection/they'd scroll by on the main Bandcamp page, I'd think "oh, that looks cool" and have a listen. With a few like Majesty Crush, Bandcamp did a front page story on them, I'd read it and give them a shot that way. Others like Wind in the Withered Willow I got an e-mail stating their album was out, as I'm subscribed to their music label of Wrought Records. Others are very impacted/well known in their scenes, such as Foglord, being one of the big guys in dungeon synth. Plus I've seen him perform live once or twice. The Out of Season label reprinted the two albums of his on cassette that I listed in my initial post, so I listened to those and put them on my Bandcamp wishlist in case they're repressed on cd (he's done a lot of albums so if I didn't do that I might forget which ones they were that I want!). Ok, as I said yesterday, I might have another artist to recommend, and here she is! Like a lot of artists I get interested in, I saw the album of Delight from Arushi Jain scroll by on the Bandcamp front page, showing it had been purchased recently by someone, so I made sure to click on it. (Oooh, good looking as well, along with being Indian; yum.) Tags state that what she does is "ambient, drone, indian, classical, modular, vocal" and "India". I've heard a little over half the album, being "Still Dreaming", which has a cello in it and her singing (which is decent) after a couple of minutes, but unfortunately there's also some noise elements in there but it's still a good piece. "Imagine An Orchestra" either has a fake flute or a real one being run through some kind of effect, but with just that and keyboards it's a good track. "Exquisite Portraiture" has a fake sitar-like sound to it and the rest is ambient, with her singing and keyboards wafting in and out. "I Surrender" has a horn and old video game-like music in like the last 40 seconds or so. With "Play in the Void", her voice sounds really haunting for a while, although with "Our Touching Tongues" (heh, nice mental picture there with that hottie ) her vocals go through an effect and there's drum machine percussion stuff at the end, although there's also a few measures of the video game-like music again. Not the best album but she incorporates a variety of stuff. She has several others that could be better for all I know, this is all I've heard for now.

Thank you Especially to help Bandcamp artists. I've been into the underground ever since high school. It's usually far more interesting (and better) than most anything mainstream. Just listening to Arushi Jain now which is cool. Good deal If you listen to anything else she's done and have any suggestions of other stuff of hers you like I'll look into it. But also thought for anything metal or heavy you might like this guys stream. I skimmed through a video and could hear some decent stuff in the background while he was talking.

Bonus album! Not from a "new" artist though since I've mentioned Haudh on here several times in regards to dungeon synth. However, he surprisingly dropped a new album out of the blue today, which, even with five pieces, it's (also surprisingly) a full length and the best album he's done since Der Erlkonig (not counting an album he did as Nahm Tok though). This blows away his last two mediocre albums of unreleased material, as he had been stuck in a rut for a while, which he had stated with the last NEDS concert when he was in chat, saying he had writer's block. I'd just go into this knowing that the opening track, however, is too long in itself, but it's also too long before it starts getting cool with adding a bell (actually there's percussion for the first time ever in all the stuff Haudh has released if I remember correctly [and not counting the last Nahm Tok single]) and flute in the last few minutes. So I'd either go into this knowing he opened the album with the weakest track of them all (for some reason) or I'd save listening to it for last, as it just gets better from there! It's the next two tracks (one being the title piece) that blow it away, having sampled choirs in them (also a new element for Haudh), with the second one (being "A Land Once Lost") having a heavenly female vocal in it. The track after that has an exotic sound like a lute and I think a flute after a while too. Finally, the closing track is battle synth, but nothing like the one he did as Nahm Tok a while back, and the kettle drum blows away the cheesy drum machine intro he had with the Tok piece, along with having another sampled choir there. Funny how he only just now started using that for the first time ever, and on THREE tracks on here. I give this one a B rating. It might become his biggest seller too (Liberate te ex Mortis is, although this is only the first day of sale and it just trails Mortis by a few copies), even though Erlkonig is better.
