The National Electricity Union reported over 260 000 users without electricity in provinces such as Pinar del Rio, Artemisa, Mayabeque, Matanzas, and Havana.

A severe storm hit the western region of Cuba on Friday afternoon and evening, March 22, 2024, leaving more than 260 000 customers (or about 780 000 people) in the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Artemisa, Mayabeque, Matanzas, and Havana without electricity. Specifically, in Havana, four municipalities have over 120 000 homes affected by the outage.

Places in Havana recorded more than 300 mm (11.8 inches) of rainfall in just 24 hours, according to Radio Ciudad Habana.
