E. Netzer, If you just look at the thread list inside Comment Box, it looks like XEA created the thread since he made the split. That's how it works on ProBoards.

So, I have a better understanding of why the forum is locked during maintenance mode. All the possible hypotheticals were helpful. But none of them make sense to me except perhaps bigballofyarn's hypothetical about not wanting to deal with bot (or other) new registrations while the mod is "away." Also, I think spam posts by bots (or others) that might occur in huge numbers. Might be tough to deal with when the mod gets back from vacation/hospital/wherever. I guess I couldn't fathom a forum being locked when there are users who want to be here and interact with other people.

E. Netzer, Posts will always appear in chronological order. So, if he had written an actual post first, it would have appeared after yours, and it still would have looked like you created the thread. If he had quoted you, then yes, it would have appeared as a post written by him where he quoted you in a new thread. So, I guess you learned two things about ProBoards within the last day - one being the potential reasons for using maintenance mode, and the second being how a thread split looks through the ProBoards software. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Thank you!
