Back when it was just DOS and no Windows?


We played a number cruncher game in school.

The upgrade from that game when we got new computers at school was another DOS game.

I've been a tech nerd my entire life and have used all different types of operating systems. I had MS DOS at home before I graduated to Windows 3.1. The first operating system I used at school was probably something like IBM PC DOS. I'm really not *that* old though. I enjoyed learning and working through different technologies exactly the way I did. I'm happy I wasn't born with a smartphone in my mouth.

I didn't have that class, I don't think. I did have a word processing class, maybe that's similar?

Mavis Beacon teaches typing.

Mavis Beacon was a made-up character, conjured up at an age when consumers were still learning how to interact with computers. Creating an avatar such as Mavis was a way of making the software more accessible, the interaction more natural.

I don't know what OS you'd call it, but it wasn't DOS, and it was like a pre-OS system that had 5inch floppy disk games.

I remember some really early Macs and math games. I liked them.
