Was anyone forced to take a beauty class where you "learned how to be a lady" and I don't know what it was called. I don't think it's a false memory either. There was a class where I had to learn how to run a class, be a housewife, and look presentatble for a man and this was probably when I just hit puberty. It made no sense and was really uncomfortable.

Never had anything like that to teach me social norms or how to be a man.
We did meet with army recruiters.

Sounds like the kind of class that wouldn't be allowed today.

It would NOT be allowed at all because of everything happening with gender and gender rolls. People would boycott.

Does make you think because no one questioned it back then. No one felt like they belonged in a different role, or if they did, they didn't say anything.

Other than girls that felt like tomboys, you're right.

It'd seem too old-fashioned today. Unfortunately there's the occasional idiot who still lives in the 18th century, thinks the Bible should be taken literally and that, like it says in there, many women didn't work, stayed at home and cooked and cleaned. I met one moron like that in the early 2000s. Wonder if he ever grew up.

Fatal Rewind, The Bible technically forbids a woman to sit in a church pew during her period or something. There are some weird things in a lot of old texts.

To be honest, I wish school did teach me how to cook.
But to do makeup? Psh. I guess if it's an elective.

^Well, at least nowadays if there's something you want to learn to cook you can just think it up and look up how to do it on YouTube. There are some weird things in a lot of old texts. Oh, no kidding.

I wouldn't mind cosmetology as an elective....but telling me how to be a housewife? I guess I could learn how to clean.

I don't remember anything like this for men or women when I went to school.

Now that I want to go to barber school, where was my free hair class?
