Anyone bicker a little about having to go to all these things? Maybe I'm in a bad mood. Sometimes I think people only invite me because there's an obligation for be to bring them a gift. Gifts are great, don't get me wrong, but having to play catch-up 100 times in a row with people I haven't seen in years is really hard.

I get it. It can be harder when you're an adult.. A lot of times, I just want to stay home, even if I really do want to see people. It's a weird mix of feelings.

I don't hate these events if I actually want to go. I hate when there's an obligation to go.

I don't mind seeing people. I'd agree with the rant part of the gift obligations, the social obligations, and feeling forced to do things to appease sociatal norms

Large groups always give me stress, and then having to dress up for big catered parties is even more stress.

I get out of as many as possible, but you can't avoid them all forever.

I go for the big events. I don't go to gender reveal parties. I mean... if I go to the christening, I can find out then.

Depending on the event, sometimes the attendees cost the bride and groom money. Last wedding I attended I believe the catering was $100 a head, so the way I saw it was if my husband and I gifted $200 the bride and groom were basically breaking even and not really.
I like going to these things, but I guess it would get exhausting if they were constant. I wanted to go to my friends wedding in October but it's in California, would be difficult for me to get the time off, and my best friend is due with her baby during that time so I reaaallly didn't want to leave the state.

I like going to support the person, but I do hate the catching up with dozens of others. Same conversation over and over.

I'm less and less social. And they end so late at night. Does no one work but me? Even when you decline, they want a check.

I want to be able to support my friends and family, but big events take a lot out of me. They're stressful and I usually don't want to have that many conversations.

They come with mixed feelings for me. I'm happy for the friend or relative, but I'm not good at socializing.
