Are hot dogs and hamburgers sandwiches?

I'm on an island here, I'll say a hamburger absolutely is. It's bread with meat between it. That's what a sandwich is.
If you substituted the hamburger meat for a pork tenderloin, it would be called a pork tenderloin SANDWICH - same thing.

Yeah I know, but bread and buns might technically be considered two totally different things. If the definition of a sandwich was meat in between two baked pieces of dough then hamburgers and hot dogs would be considered sandwiches.
