This is an update written by a ProBoards admin.
Hello to our wonderful administrators, moderators, and forum members.
It is with a heavy heart that today I must announce the suspension of work on ProBoards Version 6. With the changing landscape of our current economy, we’ve found it necessary to reprioritize projects and have had to place v6 on indefinite hiatus.
Let me say it has been a pleasure working with many of you on bringing v6 into existence. Your feedback, thoughts, ideas, support, and suggestions have been invaluable.
I want to reassure everyone that nothing is changing in regards to v5 and ProBoards will continue to provide free self-serve communities to anyone who wants to start their own forum. V6 beta forums will remain online and functional. ProBoards is still supported by a small but dedicated team. Support will continue to be offered 5 days a week from 9am to 5pm Pacific.
ProBoards continues to remain a home for the wonderful, diverse, and enthusiastic communities we host. Without your unbridled dedication ProBoards would not be the remarkable place it is today. Your communities have given us direction, purpose, and a reason to keep working hard. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of the ProBoards family.

FAQ
What does this mean for ProBoards?
All current and newly created forums will continue to work as they have so far and nothing is changing with regards to your existing v5 forums. ProBoards Support will continue to operate as before.
Will there be additional updates to forums?
We will continue to maintain and ensure stability of ProBoards forums. No feature development will occur in the near future.
Is ProBoards closing?
No, ProBoards will continue to provide free forums and support for those forums as it has for the last 23 years.
Edit:
And this is from March 6th.
Sorry if the triple quote looks confusing, but here's where we stand. Start in the middle and read downward.
While I have conveyed this information to my forum, members are still concerned and asking me if I have a course of action in case ProBoards ceases to exist. Can you provide any additional assurance that I can pass along? I'm aware that you cannot promise that ProBoards will be around for the next 200 years. You also probably cannot make any disclosures or promises regarding ProBoards' financial situation, but some people on my forum are looking for more than a "We're fine."
While I can't provide specific assurances (as I am not the arbiter of the universe and ultimately I do not have final say-so) I can say that as it stands there is no reason to cease the operation of ProBoards. We are continuing to provide user support and technical logistics/operations to ensure the uptime of all of our forums.
While we can't justify the cost and resources necessary to deliver v6, the bar that ProBoards as a service has to clear is much, much lower.
