Looking through my YouTube history, I saw where I hadn't wrapped up this latest video until tonight. Doing a search on here, I'm surprised no one had posted about it before. First off, the song: The story behind it: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/most-mysterious-song-on-the-internet-885106/The cliff's notes version is that some guy, who had a bunch of tapes recorded from the radio from 1982-1984 in Germany, stumbled across this song with no title to it, nor the name of the band. A few postings were made here and there but they didn't make much traction until it was posted on Reddit and someone came up with the entire song (originally the guy's sister only released like a minute and a half of the song, fearful of violating copyright law, I think)...that still didn't have the name of it, nor the band either. There's been several updates on Whang!'s YouTube channel since this started, which, with the last video for it, some archivists are still combing through a ton of records. I think they're on the right track by saying it was just an unreleased demo (although obviously it made it onto a radio station or two). Someone in the comments who is also researching it said something about an alleged band member that might have passed away and they even checked on his childhood home of the 80s but it's abandoned. A neighbor said they had moved to Australia ages ago. It's also good that Whang! passed along a personal story of making a demo tape himself years ago with someone else and couldn't remember all of the songs on it, so one of the alleged band members might not be lying about not getting certain facts correct about the song (plus we're talking many years longer with the guy in the supposed original band as compared to Whang!, who's a lot younger). It'll be interesting to see how this ends for this great song.

It sounds like Jim Morrison to me, but don't shoot me for saying that.

I doubt it's as big as Reddit makes it seem.I'd even wager that a random person on Reddit recorded the song himself.

^Click on Watch on YouTube on the video link and then expand the description. The "interpreted lyrics" are there and they seem to fit. How come this one become biggest mystery to research? 1. It's interesting 2. It's a great song, so you'd think SOMEONE would know something and come forward with it 3. Some things just go viral anyway. You look at "Never Gonna Give You Up", which I thought was an extremely average song at best, became big the second time around with the "Rick Rolled" stuff years and years later. "Opportunities" by The Pet Shop Boys became big again years later with the Allstate commercial with the singing hood ornament I doubt it's as big as Reddit makes it seem.I'd even wager that a random person on Reddit recorded the song himself. I've heard the hoax theory more than you'd think. A lot of these mysteries start as hoaxes to see how far and how long they'll spread. I'm no hoax expert but I don't see where this would benefit many people. The people who said it was off of a tape (the supposed brother and sister) used aliases upon releasing it and they're not making money off of it. Paul Baskerville, the dj who might've played it on his show, is a legendary dj who's famous enough as it is in his field. I haven't heard where he's broke, has cancer and has set up a Gofundme page to pay for surgery or anything so this would be attracting much-needed attention for him. No one being able to find this song as of now is about the only thing that could explain why this could be a hoax.

I used to try to search for the song and even had the Hnet community help and we all eventually gave up. It's an interesting mystery.

I figure it might not even be anyone famous. There are millions of half tracks and demos out there. That was always my opinion.
