A movie about a dystopian future where feelings and emotions are suppressed by the use of mandatory drugs. It's like a precursor to movies like 1984 and Equilibrium.

Watched it ages ago, don't remember it. I know that Reznor sampled it for a track on The Downward Spiral though.

A movie about a dystopian future where feelings and emotions are suppressed by the use of mandatory drugs. It's like a precursor to movies like 1984 and Equilibrium. Yeah one scene gave me 1984-like vibes, even though it was very brief. It showed security footage from a rival robot-making company of THX 1138's where there was an accident and an explosion engulfed several of the workers. It was ghastly. At the end of that work day with their usual "be happy" b. s. messages, they had one instead saying that they had ___ number fewer deaths than their rival company did and good job and blah blah. That made me think of 1984 when they were reporting on the fake war that was supposedly being fought during the whole book and they were pouring "victory wine" (or whatever it was called) for the main character in the bar at the end.
