Still considered a cult classic. How many remember this? Even Family Guy did a bunch of references.
Edit: I removed the trailer just in case. Those who have seen the movie should understand.

I watched it every year from maybe age 20 to age 27. What was the one from the 70s that had the same vibe?

YES. They both had that "drive around, night lasts forever" vibe.

I never considered that to be a cult classic. I thought it was pretty popular. I've watched it many times.

I never considered that to be a cult classic. Considering it made only $8 million during its theatrical run, yeah, definitely cult, I'd say. It made more money once it hit the home market. I'll have to search around to see if I can find out what happened to the two real-life stoners that were depicted in the movie that filed a lawsuit against the film makers. When I saw a report on that, I was like "how could they file one all these years later?". Because what the deal was, those guys still lived in a small town (possibly still do for all that I know) and everyone gave them sh*t when the movie came out because they knew those characters were based on them. However, once the movie was released on dvd they were badgered all over again, so that restarted the statute of limitations for litigation due to the new format. Wikipedia said three people sued due to having the same surnames as people in the film but the lawsuit was dismissed. Not sure if that was them and I'm just not remembering correctly (was it two stoners or three?). Anyway, saw this and liked it many years ago when I rented it.

Loved it when I saw it and I do have a copy on DVD. Kind of reminds me of things that actually happened in my youth.

All those HS initiation rituals are insane. People in my school actually did things like that too.

MM couldn't stop himself from laughing in the "high school girls" line. He's smirking in the finished product.

They showed us America Graffiti in college and then I saw Dazed and Confused a year later. They were pretty similar. Does anything come close now?

^There are a ton of "drive around" films and they all stereotype the decade. None have a real plot.
