Some of the wildlife sanctuaries in Queensland offer up-close koala experiences. Probably not a good idea to try this with a wild koala (they have very sharp claws). Many years ago, when I still had my dog, we were out for our daily walk and came across a young Australian magpie sat on a fence. Normally, birds will fly away if you go too close, but this one sat still and let me give him a gentle pat on his back. I've also saved a couple of birds from ending up as a cat's dinner and I've held wild Praying mantids. |
