We've got some pretty big reptiles around today. Saltwater crocodiles are the largest living reptiles. Males grow to around six metres long and can easily reach a weight of 1.3 metric tonnes. When it comes to lizards, the Komodo dragon is the largest, measuring up to three metres long and 70kgs. With snakes, the Green Anaconda is the world's heaviest (can weigh up to 98kgs) whilst the Reticulated python is the world's longest (can grow up to 9 metres). The Leatherback is the world's largest living turtle (can grow up to 6 feet long). Largest extinct turtle: Archelon (4 metres long, weighed 2.2 metric tonnes). Largest extinct snake: Titanoboa (12.8 metres long, weighed 1.13 metric tonnes). Largest extinct lizard: Megalania (estimated length of up to 7 metres, weighed 1.9 metric tonnes). Whoa. Those sound great to see up close Not too close. They'd eat you.
