I think tortoises look more like dinosaurs, but they also might be too gentle.

I think one of the biggest differences is that modern birds have a beak whilst some of the earliest birds such as Ichthyornis and Archaeopteryx had teeth.

Archaeopteryx: Carnivore/insectivore Ichthyornis: Piscivore. Fishy? Yep. Ichthyornis means "Fish bird". It lived during the Late Cretaceous, between 95 and 83 million years ago in what is now western Canada and the southeastern, south central, southwestern and midwestern United States. It was first discovered by Benjamin Franklin Mudge in 1870, who then sent the specimen to well-known American palaeontologist, Othniel Charles Marsh. Originally, the toothed jaws were thought to belong to a small marine reptile.
