I want to take 2 weeks off and go somewhere, but international travel seems to be off the table. Any type of major city type vacation seems risky, and frankly not that cool if all the attractions like museums and bars are closed.
Wat do? Something in driving distance of NYC is cool, but I guess I'm also willing to fly. I have the antibodies. 🤷♂️
Something hanging out near a lake and mountains and stuff sounds nice, but is there 2 whole weeks of entertainment there

I've given up on vacations but week after next we're driving to an undisclosed island on the coast of Georgia and hiding out in a dope house for a week or so

I had a friend that just road tripped in a sleeping van through Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Oregon, Washington etc. Looked pretty awesome tbh. Besides the pooping and bathing on the side of the road.

You could rent a cabin in Vermont.

BIL did a couple weeks in Orleans (I think) with his kids. Had their own kayaks, a small skiff boat for fishing or just use the private pier. I have no idea what it cost but seemed pretty cool and they didn't share the beach front with anyone. If it wouldn't take days to get there and back with all the risks, we'd have joined but you can probably make it in a day I'd think? Dunno. We're looking more at day trips here just for some sanity but the mountain is closed and down south is all pretty much vineyards and not drinking any wine in wine country cuz I gotta drive home doesn't seem like much fun. There's a ton of stuff to see here in the USA - just how you gonna manage food and shelter situations.

How about renting a trailer and seeing a few states?

Yeah, it seems like outdoorsy stuff right now is your best bet. If that isn't your thing, maybe just think about stashing that money away, and then next year when this is hopefully (fingers crossed) past, take a really great vacation

Rent a house on the Outer Banks of NC. It's so ****ing chill. Beaches are almost empty but all the restaurants and stuff are open. We just spent a week there and loved it.

Find a badass cabin in the woods or on the beach somewhere and just get away. That's what my BF and I are planning on doing.

Camp out in a park (with a permit)! Sounds like fun!
