We can write https ourselves, but I don't think they fully transitioned yet. you can, but if any images or scripts try to load over http, the browser will panic and tell you the world is ending, or it just wont load them.

That's what the errors are showing in the announcement. So if avatars, signatures, and things are http, i'll get errors?? Or not?

HTTPS means the site is secure HTTPS means the channel between the client and server was encrypted before transmission. It does not mean the site is secure. This is a misnomer that has endured a generation of fails and still causes confusion for most people.

Some people are claiming the switch already happened. Am I supposed to manually change the URL?

Some people are claiming the switch already happened. Am I supposed to manually change the URL? No. It'll be automatic and before Valentine's Day.

As PB admins says the automatic change will be in one or two weeks Yes! Very soon! Can't wait. I'm happy. Because my brother thought that viruses are coming from that unsecure site and he wanted to tell my parents to leave it.

Your brother sounds a bit paranoid. It sounds like he downloaded something he shouldn't have and wanted to blame it on someone else.

^Experimental features aren't safe though, right? They might break the forum, I think.
