I see a lot of old posts about the Shop/monetary feature that talk about being able to invest your virtual profile $$$ into some sort of stock market, but I don't see a way to do it. Has it been removed? Or am I looking in the wrong place? Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place. I wanted to reply to this thread, but it looks like the Reply button has been removed.

I think the information was getting pulled from Yahoo Stocks and Yahoo removed that from their service.

Yes, that is how some people made their millions, but the shop plugin pulled real stock information from real stocks. I THINK something happened where the information wasn't available anymore, and the stock market had to be disabled.

The stock market relied on external data that became unavailable and the whole feature had to be removed from the monetary system.

The stock market was fun. Prices updated. You could buy and sell based on real info, but it got pulled when the information source became unavailable and the developer couldn't revamp that part of the money system.
The money system has a lot of levels The money you earn on the forum for various activities The shop Investments you make in your bank account The former stock market

Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place. I wanted to reply to this thread, but it looks like the Reply button has been removed. The anti-bump thing probably kicked in if the last reply was over 40 days ago. bigballofyarn can fix that too.

I think the stock market had to be removed in 2018 because the external stock source stopped giving out information freely.

The stock market was fun for a few years, but had to be removed when it couldn't pull the information it needed to function properly.
Do any of you have screenshots of how it was?

Now I'm missing that stock market so hard.
Yes, it was retired because the data wasn't available anymore.

Peter had to remove it a few years ago. Here is what he told me on Proboards Support. bigballofyarn , Yes, Yahoo is discontinuing it, so it will no longer work. I've gone ahead and blocked that message as well. So I suggest anyone that has the Stock Market feature enabled, to disable it in the settings for now. It will likely return for v6, but it won't rely on external data. I also modified the bumping on the shop support thread in case anyone needs additional support in the future.
