chankukah? mind asking what's that? Christian people celebrate Christmas. Jewish people celebrate Chanukah. It's an 8-day festival of lights. Special food. Special prayers. Since the miracle of Chanukah involved oil, it's customary to eat foods in oil during Chanukah. It's celebrating the Maccabees rebellion against Antiochus IV Epiphanes. The Temple was purified and the wicks of the menorah burned for eight days, even though there was only enough oil for one day. |
