Now, I'm not too religious, but I have an interst in reading the Christian Bible. Does anyone have any tips? I hear most people don't make it through.

IMO, don't skip around like they do in church. Read at your own pace and read cover to cover.

The reason why I suggest Matthew first is because this the beginning of the new covenant which we live under now. Then you can read the history and how it used to be starting in Genesis.
