In person is better. You can try it all out and returns are easier.

I think I'm agreeing with those of you saying you'd want to try them out first. But I can't find anywhere IRL that sells what I want. Large hardware stores often have a lot of outdoor patio furniture (Menards, Home Depot). Also, garden stores will carry quite a selection normally too. Then you've got the big time stores like Target and Walmart, probably cheaper and smaller selection, but it's an option.

I would go in person for furniture. You need to see and feel it.

Only online for furniture if you know the company.

You can buy online but it's hard to know what you're really getting. We dropped somewhere around $800 on a nice patio sectional set at Costco a month or two back. No regrets.
Getting ready to buy a living room set soon. We've always done hand me downs and we're ready for our own stuff. Just trying to wait a month or two to get some savings back first.
