Wait, are we talking about washing our hair or our body?
I was referring to the body not the hair.

I thought it was merely just a hygiene topic.

"lather rinse repeat" is an old shampoo motto from the 90s.
bottles might still say it actually

Probably used as a motto because people use more product when they repeat. Totally unnecessary, bacteria on your body is a GOOD thing and showering too much washes it away.

No reason to repeat unless you have really oily hair. I agree with this. The first lather gets a lot of the oil out and the second lather actually cleans your hair. |
