I'm getting the same thing but only when loading the site over https what does 404 default backend mean? Something with the HTTP server technology (nginx) configuration that proboards uses is messed up. The 404 HTTP response code means "Not Found" meaning that the resource you're trying to access wasn't found on the remote server.

When you go to load a web page over https the first thing that happens is your computer and the web server set up an encryption key. Then any further communication with that website (requests and responses) are encrypted with that key before they're sent over the wire. This way even if someone intercepts your traffic, they don't know what is being sent in either direction

Yes the server has to be set up with its own signed key to help make sure your browser is talking to the right server when it connects.

Something went wrong (but it’s not your fault)
You were visiting a Cloudflare customer’s website, and something went wrong. Don’t worry, it’s not your fault. If the problem isn’t resolved in the next few minutes, it’s most likely an issue with the web server you were trying to reach.
Cloudflare protects websites by sitting in front of Internet requests, and we work with website owners and hosting providers to identify underlying problems in their server configuration.
