What makes a thread "Hot"? Hot meaning the flaming file folder is next to the thread title.
Certain number of posts within a time period? Views? Just curious. Seems alot of the threads on the board are "hot". Must be little criteria.

No time period or reviews.
Just 20 replies or more because the conversation is "hot"

Our overall average is 16.41 replies per topic. So that's great to see a lot of lengthy discussions.

Time period and view counts don't matter. It's just 20 or more replies total.

Time period and view counts don't matter. It's just 20 or more replies total. Gotchya. So it stays "Hot" forever it looks like. No wonder the board I was just in basically had all "Hot" threads..including a bunch that were old.

I understand 20 replies, but if a thread hasn't been posted on within like a week or some determined timeframe, IMO it should go back to normal. Otherwise "Hot" doesn't really mean much...my 2 cents at least.
Averaging 16+ posts per thread, heck 90% of the threads are "Hot". It's gettin hot in hurrrr!

^Older threads fall off the first page anyway, so I don't think it matters.

Cool I never knew what the magic # was. I didn't either and it changes forum to forum depending on settings.

I love how some forums set it to 5 or 10 to make it look like all their threads are hot.

I love how some forums set it to 5 or 10 to make it look like all their threads are hot. That's usually because the posts are longer. On an rp site it was ten but the minimum word requirement for a post was 300 so getting to ten usually took a lot of time and effort. anyone else fund it funny this is almost a hot thread? XD
