Nooope they boil them alive if at all possible to do so for the freshest taste! In fact, lobsters used to get huge, nearly two feet but they're so overfished that none seem to ever get that large anymore. Sometimes chefs have to leave the kitchen because they can't stand hearing the lobster clawing at the lid and sides of the pot.

^ Because of how they're prepared?
(Personally I don't eat lobster because the taste and texture of seafood makes me sick but even if I did, I would probably ignore the piece of how they are prepared to enjoy the food.)

But isn't it? Don't you think it would he intensely painful to be boiled alive? But apparently lobsters sure are tasty so we can justify causing it pain for our pleasure, can't we? :3

Your article is interesting calyta. I had thought that stabbing was the humane way to kill lobsters. Freezing just prolongs their death. And I'd never go to a restaurant and chose an animal/insect/crustaceans etc for my meal. I just couldnt do that.
A few years ago there were some complaints to the Broadcasting Standard Authority from viewers after a contestant on a masterchef episode boiled a live lobster/crayfish on the show. The SPCA condemned the practice but it was 'just a slap on the wrist' nothing happened legally which makes me think there are no laws covering cruelty to crustaceans. I wonder if its possible to electrically stun them like they do animals killed in an abattoir?? (but that would only be possible for commercially killed ones, I know).
