Not diagnosed, but when things bother me, I can't eat or sleep for weeks.

I feel physically anxious all the time but I cant think of anything that would mentally be causing it

I've had it for my whole life almost, and I'm 19 now. I've been through meds, counseling... nowadays I just put up with it. It doesn't keep me from doing a whole lot anymore.

It was recently suggested that I take ativan. Not sure if I want to. Mom is on the generic of that. She takes it 3x per day. Helps her tons

lorazepam is the generic for ativan. it seems to have positive reviews

I've felt extremely anxious for a very long time. They wont give me an rx though because they think it'll slow down my heart too much

They slow down your brain, and yes if you are at a lower level of anxiety, your HR will be lower

^That's not how they work. They up the level of seratonin in the brain, which is the chemical for mental stability, happiness, even heart rate, good sleep, etc. Everything. There are SOME types of depression/ anxiety meds that can screw with heart rate rhythms, but usually only in people who have difficulties with this and it usually makes it irregular, not slows it down. SSRIs, that type of Seratonin drug, doesn't do that...

The mood stabelizers I've been on didnt affect the heart directly, but in calming my whole body, I didnt feel it pounding anymore.
