What do you do about plates? Driving a car home long distance on Saturday. Cant get a temp. from the DMV because I obviously dont have the title yet. What can I do so I dont get pulled over for no plates?

Carry the bill of sale with you, go to a dealership detail dept and say you didnt get one, and write a date on it.

You know how many people in NY drive w/o plates? like 1/10. As long as you have the title you'll be ok without plates dude.

Gotta get the title first, then register it and return to chi.

yeah, just don't leave the house without the paperwork, and keep it in the car for now until you can get everything registered. it is better to have plates and everything done to avoid any problems, since they can be picky with that kind of stuff

Bill of sale is all you need. Most major insurance companies will extend insurance for a newly purchased car, assuming you have insurance currently.

Go on your DMV website and there should be a Bill Of Sale print out. Take that with you and have it signed and keep it with you. The guy's bank still has the title, I'm assuming?

They will assign you a "Temporary resident" tag that will be good for 20 days until you receive your real tags.
