No, if you lower it to say 18 then 14 year olds have easy access to alcohol

Kids of all ages already have easy access to alcohol. It's fine at 21.

So, at age 18 you can join the military and go off and die but not drink alcohol to at least make the army not suck so hard? That doesn't make much sense.
European countries have lower drinking ages, and less alcohol abuse by young people.

I guess you have a point since you can smoke at 18. For some reason they see alcohol as a bigger threat

Maybe they should just not let you leave a bar for 30 mins after you finish drinking. If you're doing it at home with no intentions of driving, I guess it doesn't matter

Maybe they should just not let you leave a bar for 30 mins after you finish drinking. That doesn't make any sense, and a bar should have no right to hold you against your will unless your belligerent, or a threat to yourself or others in which case they should call the police to pick you up.

Yeah and if you've had a few holding you for 30 minutes would do barely anything.

Actually the body metabolizes alcohol pretty fast.

well if they serve you a ton of drinks, isnt it partly their responsibility to make sure you have a safe ride home?

nah, like the commercials say, drink responsibly ;p
bar tenders aren't responsible for what people buy. they can say however something like "you had enough" and have the person kicked out

yeah I just read that they can't even refuse alcohol to a pregnant woman, but I think that's very wrong

European countries have lower drinking ages, and less alcohol abuse by young people. Yeah, but they probably have incredibly stiff alcohol-related crime sentences, that's why Princess Diana's death was very rare (her driver being under the influence), DWI hardly ever happens over there

(cute, tfe.... heh)
i think this is something that should have been changed aLONG time ago. we all know how people are nowadays. we'll give them a right and they'll abuse it...
go over to europe. teenagers and what not have a glass of wine with their parents at dinner. of course, they still go out and get drunk, but its something thats introduced at such a young age that they think nothing of it.
if we lowered it now, everyone would abuse it... :/
