Well, I have never been to King's Canyon, but I would like to head over and bum around for a few days. Anyone been there and have suggestions on which areas are worthwhile to backpack?

I'm guessing you'll be going into Cedar Grove. That's a cool place. The road in is amazing. You'll be descending into a canyon deeper than the grand canyon. I would be sure to hit up Grant Grove as soon as you enter. It holds some of the largest trees in the world. If you like caves, Crystal Cave is neat.

When are you going? It'll be a low snow year this year, but going earlier than mid-may would be bad. June is bad with mosquitos, but who knows this year (less snow, less water, less skeeters).

I'll be flying in either June 12 or June 19. I'm sure there will be some mosquitos. Even a leaf can hold enough water for them, but not the mosquitos of biblical proportions like last year.
