another forum has this:
"Out of Memory" error message appears when you have a large number of programs running SYMPTOMS When you run a large number of Windows-based programs, "Out Of Memory" error messages appear when you attempt to start new programs or try to use programs that are already running, even though you still have plenty of physical and pagefile memory available.

just a fyi, i found out you can only activate your copy of windows once. i had to format my pc and install windows again, but it let me reactivate my serial. if you want to use windows 7 on other computers, i recommend buying the family pack home premium. you can install that one 3 times. there isn't that much of a difference between home premium and ultimate except windows xp mode.. and professional is strictly business.
I would get "In order to view this page you need JavaScript and Flash Player 9+ support!" on here
Is that related?
Could be because you don't have javascript enabled... or, less likely, because you have an old version of Flash. Usually it'll just say "you need upgrade flash" in the area of the flash object... not mess up the entire page.

When I was born, I was black. When I grow up, I'm black. When I'm ill, When I die, I'm black. But you - When you're born, you're pink. When you grow up, you're white. When you're ill, you're green. When you go out in the sun, you go red. When you're cold, you go blue. When you die, you're purple. And you have the nerve to call me Colored?
i need a router that'll be able to share files and printers with ease, play games and more all at once with less lag. I know it's going to lag either way, but a better router with more active computers running will help us out. we're splitting the budget, but i would like to keep this no higher than $200.

This can manifest in IE due to a problem with Adobe Flash Player 9 (and there's flash ad's everywhere... unless you use adblock/flashblock). Update to the newest version of flash and try again.

Prices have really gone down for good computers, You can find what your looking for all over the place at $500 + .... But you may be better off just building your own. and i agree with Darc, I use AVG for a virus program... since i changed over from Norton about 5 or 6 years ago I've had no problems. Norton seemed like a magnet for crap.

I'm just going to lead off with "the best anti-virus programs are free" IMHO (AVG, COMODO, AVAST, etc). I've had TONS of problems with Norton/Symantec where a computer refuses to work after I remove a virus... until I remove Norton/Symantec, then everything starts working again. I suppose it's not really their fault since they're being targeted by virus writers.... but still, it annoys the hell out of me when I can't connect to the internet until I do a total purge of Norton using their removal tool...
I'd suggest you look for at least a dual core (maybe quad core, if the price is right these days) processor, 4GB+ RAM, 100GB+ HD space, and a 'decent' video card to support it all... doesn't take much if you're not running bleeding edge games, but make sure you account for extra monitors you may want (I will never own a computer with <2 monitors again in my lifetime).

Help me find the best computer « Result #39 on Dec 20, 2009, 12:22am »
Alright, I'd like your opinions on this. I want to get a new computer. I want to have a computer with plenty of memory. I don't want the thing to get slow. I want Microsoft office on it and think I want Microsoft 7. I don't plan to play much big games on it but i do have a few I want to load on it. I will probably have 5 or so total. Games will be like card games, classic games, bejeweled and such. I have a home designer thing I want on it. I want to find a budget creator program thing if there is such a thing. I want to be able to surf the net, download stuff, watch videos and stuff on it with good quality and speed. But, most importantly, I want the very best anti-virus I can get, even if it cost $$$. I want to be able to keep this computer up to speed. I may even use it for a small business one day, who knows? My budget cap is $1000. What are your suggestions?

Re: Passwords « Result #44 on Dec 19, 2009, 1:11pm »
I've got 4 generic passwords that I use for normal stuff (IRC, IM, email, etc) then I've got 5 different extremely strong passwords (>20 characters, upper, lower, alphanumeric, with special characters) that I use for important stuff.
To keep things straight, I use KeePass to manage my passwords, with a crazy super awesome password on it. -darc
